The Manchester Women's Club, in existence since 1935, is a non-denominational organization which welcomes civic minded women who are interested in building a better community by preserving, promoting, and advancing the culture, educational opportunities, and social well-being of its citizens while fostering a philanthropic spirit in its members.
Membership, which is diverse, includes women from the Greater Manchester Community. Among our members are active and retired administrators, bankers, business owners, realtors, counselors, educators, health care professionals, and homemakers. The club meets at the Manchester Country Club, Bedford, NH at 12:30 pm on the first Friday of the month October-December and February-June. Each meeting begins with a light lunch followed by a program. Other events, including fund raisers, are held at different times. Dues are $25.00.
Every year, academic scholarships, and art, music and drama awards are given to students attending the three public high schools. Throughout the year, the annual Right To Read book drive is conducted and the collected books are given to one of the public elementary schools. The club has also supported worthy organizations such as Boys and Girls Club, Moore Center, Easter Seals, Salvation Army, The Way Home, New Horizons, Veterans Hospital, VNA, and Child and Health Services.
To raise money for all their endeavors, members hold a variety of fund raisers each year. Some of these have included yard sales, 20/20 raffle, holiday jewelry boutique, basket raffles, wine and cheese tastings, fashion shows, Panera Bread certificate sales and theme luncheons.
